With the aim of increasing recycling in Colombia, which today is at 17% according to figures
from the National Planning Department (DPN), several communication companies from the
Ardila Lülle Organization (OAL) together with Postobón, joined forces to start a massive
campaign.
According to the organizers of the initiative, “citizens play a fundamental role in this dynamic,
since they are a key part of the circular economy cycle, especially with separation at the
source. For this reason, from their homes, workplaces, spaces public and commercial
establishments, must participate in the waste management process, depositing usable
materials (glass, metal, plastics, paper and cardboard, clean, dry and compressed) in white
bags and non-usable materials (waste of food and others).
The messages on how and in what way recycling should be done, “will be on television,
radio, the press, social networks and digital channels. In a first stage, it will promote a simple
and clear message: materials such as glass, PET, Tetra Pak and aluminum, are recyclable.
Therefore, they must be deposited in white bags to be used. After this, the work of
professional recyclers and initiatives that are developed in the country in which opportunities
are generated from recycling will be highlighted.”
Martha Ruby Falla González, Director of Sustainability at Postobón, indicated that “it is
essential to work on educating and raising awareness among people so that they correctly
separate usable materials. That is a purpose that we have at Postobón, which is reflected
in this campaign. If we citizens understand the importance of recycling, we will contribute to
society and the fight against climate change. If we separate recyclables correctly, depositing
them in plastic bags, we will support more than 60,000 families who live off recycling.”
“This communication initiative, which includes the participation of television presenters
Claudia Bahamón, Felipe Arias and Orlando Liñán, as well as actress Juliana Galvis, makes
Colombians aware of the recycling of containers and packaging for everyday use, such as
glass bottles. and PET, Tetra Pak boxes and aluminum cans, emphasizing that these
materials, after consuming their content, must be deposited in white bags, which allows the
recycling cycle to be maintained,” highlights one of the sections of the statement on the
details of the initiative
